RULES AND GUIDELINES

Read and Understand these before you play !

QUINTE RECREATIONAL NO CONTACT HOCKEY LEAGUE - 4 ON 4 DIVISIONAL PLAY

  1. THIS IS A RECREATIONAL LEAGUE !! IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PLAY FOR THE PURE ENJOYMENT OF THE GAME OF HOCKEY, THEN THIS IS NOT THE LEAGUE FOR YOU.       PLEASE PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
  2. Players are encouraged to exhibit good sportsmanship and respectful play at all times. Parents attending these games are asked to do the same with those playing and those also in attendance.
  3. Every game will start on the scheduled time with a three (3) minute warm up.
  4. We play (2) periods, but we do not use the clock. We use a (1) minute shift buzzer. No game clock so the kids try hard, right up to the buzzer.
  5. Time/Score keeper and the Referees, must keep the games on schedule.
  6. Official hockey rules apply, but referees have been encouraged to avoid calling accidental infractions. Volunteers/bench coaches may be asked to explain penalty actions of the game.

PENALTY CALLS

All minor penalties will result in a penalty shot which will be take place at the end of the period. The player, who is charged with the penalty, must go to their bench immediately, and a new player comes on. The puck is then turned over to the player or the team who was offended.

Best scenario is to avoid penalties !

  1. Referees have been asked to keep the flow of the game fast by utilizing multiple pucks. Close calls at the blue line or icings may be waived off.
  2. 3 PENALTY RULE  Player taking 3 penalties in the game will be automatically ejected from the game.

TRASH TALKING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

This is a recreational league and trash talking is a form of harrassment and verbal abuse, and this action will not be tolerated. Players will be penalized and at the referee's discretion, the player(s) may be ejected from the game. This action may lead to removal from the league and registration fees will not be refunded. Official Rules state that mouth guards are mandatory and are to be worn at all times. Keep it on your teeth and keep your mouth shut!!

FIGHTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

  1. You fight, your're done !! There's no discussion. You forfeit your spot in the league and registration fees will not be refunded.
  2. NO BODY CONTACT  Rough or aggressive play will not be tolerated. At the referee's discretion, the 3 penalty rule may be enforced.
  3. A MAJOR PENALTY will result in Automatic Ejection from the game and may result in removal from the league without any form of refund.
  4. Stick infractions involving slashing, spearing, cross checking, butt ending will result in possible removal from the game as well as the league.
  5. Referees and Off-Ice Officials have the right to eject a player from the game without any warning, for unruly behaviour, trash talking, harrassment etc...  This is referee game management and it should be supported by the parents or guardians and it will be supported by the league.

  1. SLAP SHOTS  will not be permitted in league play. Stick motion must not come above the knee at no time. Reason being for this rule is most of our kids resort to a slap shot because they don't have the strength to take a wrist shot, snap shot or back hand. This is a forum where they can work on this weakness for not only shooting, but passing the puck as well. Kids need to get away from the "flicky wrists", passes and shots. Passes need to be flat and hard, shots need to be quick and hard.
  2. ATOM, PEEWEE, BANTAM divisions will consist of a 1 minute shift buzzer. Buzzer sounds, puck is left where it lies. Players skate for the bench and must be within 10 feet of the bench before next player steps on the ice.
  3. Coaches/doormen are asked to give players positive instructions to help improve their game, while at the same time having fun. 2-3 on the bench are appreciated.
  4. If time permits, 45-50 minutes/game, all will get the opportunity to go 1 on 1 with the opposing goalie in a somewhat of a shoot-out competition.
  5. Teams do not change ends after periods. Goalies get a drink of water, and off we go again.
  6. Puck will only be dropped at the start of each period.
  7. Whistles as a result of a goal or goalie covering the puck, will result in the attacking team having to completely clear the attacking zone. The defending team is now given the puck and the opportunity to clear there zone over their blue line at resumption of play.
  8. Icings and off-sides will result in the defending team being given possession of the puck with the attacking team having to clear the zone. Keep in mind, it is our intention to keep the flow of the game as fast as possible, so icings and close off sides may be waived off.
  9. In case of an injury on the ice, a Facilities Operator should be contacted if a certified person is not present.
  10. Players on the ice are asked to immediately congratulate each other at the end of the game or shoot-out, but to exit the ice surface so the ice can be resurfaced for the next teams to warm up and can start without delay. Please no horseplay with friends on the ice after the game. This is how injuries happen.
  11. The league objective is for lots of skating, passing and shooting. This is an opportunity to play puck smart, strengthen your puck moving and shooting abilities. Learn to let the puck do the work, because no one can out skate a flat and hard pass or shot.
  12. This recreational league is not only meant for every player to have fun and enjoy playing our country's national game, but for those watching the games to just enjoy watching your kids in a hassle free, not so competitive environment where winning is not the objective.   HAVING FUN IS !!
